Speakeasy regularly employ a network of locally based artists, all of
whom share the company's core values, and many of whom have been working with us
for a number of years. Click on any of the names below to find out more about
some of the artists we have worked with recently.
Alice Nicholas
Alice trained at The Central School of Speech and Drama,
London in Drama, Applied Theatre and Education. She has worked in a
number of different contexts as a freelance
practitioner, including facilitating workshops/projects with
young people on inner city estates in East London and Birmingham,
setting up her own youth theatre in Melton Mowbray and of course her
local work with the wonderful Speakeasy Theatre Company….
Alice also works as a drama lecturer in contemporary
theatre and applied theatre at
Brooksby
Melton
College.
Andrew McWilliam
Andrew trained as a director at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. His
directing credits include 'Krapp’s Last Tape' and 'Us and Them'
both at Bristol Old Vic. Andrew has
worked for Speakeasy as
a freelancer since 2001 (which could possibly make him the longest
serving freelancer!). He has worked on a number of different projects
during his time with Speakeasy. The main bulk of work being with Act Up
Young People’s Drama Group creating and devising theatre.
Alongside this Andrew directs and facilitates projects for his
own company Chorus Theatre including young people’s drama projects and
community theatre.
Christine Hood
Christine graduated from
De Montfort University with a degree in Drama
in 2008. Christine has worked for companies including Speakeasy
Theatre Company, Non Stop Cabaret Theatre Company and Citizen 598
Theatre Company.
With Non Stop Cabaret Christine toured to different theatres across the
country with a production of 'Faustus' which received a nomination for
Best Production at the Buxton Fringe Festival. Alongside her
acting and performance work, Christine has had great experience working
as a Drama Workshop Leader teaching ages ranging from 8-18 years old.
Trina Haldar
Trina
Haldar is a freelance Director and Theatre practitioner based in the East Midlands
Trina has worked with companies and venues including Speakeasy Theatre,
Curve Theatre, Nottingham Playhouse, Global Education Derby and a number
of other organisations across the Midlands.
Trina has directed many youth and community productions as well as
professional theatre pieces.
Recently Trina was
Assistant Director on His Dark Materials at Curve Theatre,
Leicester.
